Timber Ponds, Port Glasgow

Posts from the Timber Ponds in the River Clyde at Port Glasgow
Wood was held in the Timber Ponds between Langbank and Port Glasgow to be used in ship building downstream at Port Glasgow and Greenock. The practice continued until metal became widely used and shipbuilding moved upstream to Glasgow. The posts continue to be visible as the tide falls.
